Mission Sending Team

Mission Sending Team

The great commission (Mathew 28:18-20), wherever it is found in the New Testament, is addressed, not to a mission agency, an apostle or an apostolic team, but to the entire church. It is therefore the duty of every Christian to be involved in Missions. That only a few people are involved in it today is a misnomer that needs to be redressed. It is therefore the principal duty of the Mission Sending Team, wherever it is found, to promote Missions in the entire body of Christ within its locality. Through maintaining a good relationship with the churches in its area of coverage, loving and confronting the body of Christ with the missionary mandate. It is therefore more of a service than a mere fellowship group. Again, the activities of the Mission Sending Team are to be directed more towards the Christians in its area of coverage than toward Calvary Ministries. A good Team is therefore, not the one its members are very busy just getting involved directly in the life and work of the missionaries, but one which motivates and mobilizes the Christians in every state to get involved. When this is done successfully, it should result in, among other things the churches in the area beginning to pray for Calvary Ministries in particular, and for Global Missions in general, giving financially for the running of the work, going occasionally to visit fields, supporting its missionaries in a variety of ways. It also results in the release of those among their members who identify a missionary call to the service of the ministries of Calvary Ministries or any other mission agency.

The Mission Senders

A lot of Mission Sending Team is the organized sending and support arm of Calvary Ministries found in any locality in the world. It consists of bible believing Christians who have given their lives to Christ and are seriously concerned for global evangelization. They meet regularly to pray for the work, to plan and also work towards the mobilization of the church in their locality to ensure the progress of the work of global missions. They are directly responsible to the CAPROUSA Field office.

Membership

Becoming a member of a Mission Sending Team is becoming a member of Calvary ministries. Since the Ministry is a mission agency, membership of it entails becoming fully involved in Missions. The Mission senders are the other leg on which Calvary Ministries stands (1 Samuel 30:23-24). You can be a member of mission senders even if you are a member of your church mission board. It is desirous that Mission Senders play prominent roles in their churches to increase the volume of mission activities (Roman 10:14).

The Mission Task

Whereas the staff members of the Ministries generally seek to reach the peoples in the unreached areas in our mandate, the Mission Sending Teams seek to reach the Christians in the reached areas with the view of recruiting them into full involvement with the great commission. There are two important groups we are called to work with:-
1. THE CHURCH (Body of Christ) who already have the gospel and are living in its full revelation need to see the plight of the
2. Unreached and Unchurched or Unengaged peoples of our world.
The call to mission work is to the church as a body but many churches today have been indifferent to the call. This is largely because they lack knowledge of the situation of the harvest field. Our task as Mission Senders is to bring that information to them. If we do not inform them, they are likely to spend all needed resources (human and material) on themselves.

Starting a Mission Sending Team

Any suitable qualified Christian can start a Mission Sending Team. Sucha person is expected to invite and involve other-like minded individuals. A group of not less than five individuals is to be meeting at least once a month toward the fulfillment of the goals of a Mission Sending Team before it can be recognized as such. However, the group so organized is to seek the charter of the Ministries through the appropriate National Coordinator and the Board of Trustees. The new Mission Sending Team is chartered through a letter written on behalf of the Board. The Trustees reserves the right to withdraw the Charter of a Mission Sending Team when it feels such a Team is no longer fulfilling the aims and objectives for which it is set up.
